The postgraduate TESOL program focuses on building expertise in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This curriculum helps students gain specialized knowledge in second language learning while developing practical teaching skills for English language instruction. By blending theory with teaching methods, the program prepares future TESOL professionals with essential classroom tools. Students can choose between on-campus learning, online studies, or a hybrid approach.
Completing the Graduate Certificate in TESOL takes six months of full-time study (or equivalent part-time). The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences offers this program.
This certificate leads into the 36-unit Graduate Diploma in TESOL and the 72-unit Master's degree in TESOL, with coursework designed for seamless advancement through all three qualification levels.
Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.
Graduates already with a Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching are specialised into English as a Second Language (ESL)/Languages Other than English (LOTE).
Students are strongly encouraged to check employment requirements and conditions with potential employers before enrolling in a TESOL course.
