South Australia's sole postgraduate offering in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) combines scientific, computational, geographical, and cartographic disciplines into a dynamic field of study with real-world applications. This program empowers students to make meaningful contributions – from employing drone technology for environmental surveys to leveraging spatial data for social equity initiatives and urban development planning.
Designed for graduates across diverse academic backgrounds, including public sector and NGO professionals seeking career advancement, the curriculum delivers both theoretical foundations and practical expertise in handling geospatial data. Participants will cultivate GIS competencies applicable to numerous sectors including urban planning, environmental conservation, public health, and archaeological research. Master's graduates will gain proficiency in spatial data analysis and research reporting across various GIS applications. This program serves as an entry point to GIS and remote sensing principles, particularly suited for students without prior GIS education.

Applicants must normally hold a degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.
The Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Information Systems is not available to graduates of the Bachelor of Geospatial Information Systems or of equivalent undergraduate courses from other tertiary institutions.
