This two-year master's program is tailored for individuals looking to merge comprehensive journalism education with a four-unit concentration in a related field. The journalism curriculum places significant focus on hands-on news reporting techniques. Participants will master multimedia journalism production using professional-grade equipment and software. From their initial semester, students will begin crafting content for digital platforms, radio, and television while exploring journalism's vital function in democratic societies. The program incorporates real-world experience through contributions to Curtin's journalism news platform, Western Independent. Learners can specialize in specific domains like sports or political journalism. Additionally, they'll develop critical thinking, teamwork, and solution-oriented abilities by conceptualizing, organizing, and executing a capstone project – either a professional journalism piece or an academic research thesis.
A bachelor degree or graduate qualification in an unrelated field from a recognised institution OR a Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Journalism (applicants may be eligible for credit for recognised learning).
