This intensive 12-month master's program has been crafted to address evolving needs in the healthcare industry, both in Australia and worldwide, where there's growing demand for clinicians with advanced practice capabilities, leadership qualities, and research expertise in specific healthcare domains.
As a pioneering offering in Western Australia, this program merges clinical specialization with research training. It's ideal for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics, and oral-health professionals seeking to build unique careers that integrate research within clinical environments.
Students will acquire expertise in evidence-based clinical approaches, including healthcare policy standards and implementation strategies that bridge research and practice.
The curriculum covers qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research techniques, along with associated ethical considerations, for practical health research and evaluation applications.
Prepare for a rewarding career addressing critical needs in Australia's aging population. The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Practice specialization is available as both a graduate certificate and as part of the Master of Advanced Practice. This focus area meets the rising demand for specialized nursing care in treating patients with acute or chronic wounds, ostomies, and incontinence. The program includes two weeks of specialized clinical training emphasizing interdisciplinary learning and teamwork.
You must hold a recognised bachelor degree or graduate degree with a high course weighted average (greater than 70 per cent). It is essential that you have successfully completed a research unit and a human biology-related unit at tertiary level. If you have not completed these units, you may be able to study them through the Health Sciences Graduate Entry Foundation course.
