As a PhD candidate, you'll explore uncharted territory by discovering new information, creating theoretical frameworks, or offering fresh perspectives on existing data and concepts. Your work will apply deep theoretical knowledge to devise real-world applications. Unlike other postgraduate programs, research degrees require at least 66% of your studies to focus on original investigation. While some coursework may be included, your primary output will be a thesis developed with guidance from supervisory experts. Examiners must judge your dissertation to make a meaningful, novel contribution to its field through either new discoveries, theoretical advancements, or innovative reinterpretations. Additionally, your thesis must showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and conclude a research project.
Applicants are required to demonstrate a capacity to carry out independent research and have adequate training and ability to pursue the proposed research course. Generally, this may be a master degree or bachelor degree with first or upper second class honours.
