Focusing on research-driven education, the Music Technology Major equips students with comprehensive theoretical and practical expertise in professional music recording, covering studio work, field recording, and online production. Building on contemporary digital music scholarship and broader digital humanities discourse, this program explores how multimedia, interdisciplinary arts, and communication technologies have transformed music in the digital age. Students can specialize in areas including: the history and practice of music technology; sound preservation; cyberculture; music industry studies; recording science and artistry; digital composition, performance, and production; technological critique; and music technology's role in digital humanities. Students may also personalize their studies through the Australian National Internships Program or by designing an independent music technology project.
