Focusing on research-driven education, the Music Technology Major equips students with comprehensive theoretical and practical expertise in professional music recording, applicable to studio work, field recording, and online production. Building on contemporary digital music scholarship and broader digital humanities discussions, this program explores how multimedia, interdisciplinary arts, and communication technologies have transformed music in the digital age. Students can explore areas including: the history and practice of music technology; sound preservation; digital culture; music industry fundamentals; recording techniques; digital composition and performance; technology critique; and music technology's role in the digital humanities. They may also tailor their studies through the Australian National Internships Program or by designing an independent music technology project.
