Earning an honours degree will distinguish you from others, giving you a competitive advantage and excellent preparation for careers in industry, research, or advanced academic pursuits. This program combines hands-on training with guidance from renowned educators and researchers. Our cutting-edge campus facilities, featuring a Virtual Environment Radiotherapy Training (VERT) system, provide ample practical experience to ensure you're job-ready upon graduation. As one of just seven Australian universities with VERT technology, you'll train in a 3D simulated treatment environment using equipment identical to real-world clinical settings. Radiation therapists collaborate with oncologists and medical physicists to plan and administer radiation treatments, mainly for cancer patients. They use specialized software to model radiation doses and operate advanced equipment for precise delivery of therapeutic radiation. Your first year will concentrate on foundational sciences essential to medical radiation practice, covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, and radiation physics - providing a comprehensive introduction to the field's scientific principles. The curriculum includes regular pre-clinical workshops to enhance your skills as you progress toward specialized practice areas.
