The Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program is delivered by the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services. This curriculum's professional training components cover all essential areas of athletic training practice. The YSU Athletic Training Education Program aims to educate, assess, and foster progressive learning in students across these key professional areas:
Injury/Illness Prevention and Wellness Protection: Learners recognize potential hazards and risk factors in sports/physical activities while executing complete wellness strategies and injury prevention initiatives.
Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis: Trainees perform comprehensive initial assessments of common athletic injuries and conditions, establishing preliminary diagnoses to guide immediate care or physician referrals.
Emergency Response and Acute Care: Participants deliver proper first aid and urgent care for sudden injuries following established protocols, including coordinating appropriate follow-up evaluations and treatments.
Therapeutic Intervention and Recovery: Students design and execute thorough rehabilitation programs with measurable objectives to restore optimal physical function and performance.
Professional Practice and Healthcare Administration: Candidates manage athletic training program operations, adhere to current BOC standards and legal requirements, while cultivating ongoing professional development through evidence-based methods
