Literature encompasses diverse written works, films, and media forms. As an Integrated Language Arts Education student, you'll thoroughly evaluate these creative works within their historical and cultural contexts. The program exposes you to global literary traditions and influential authors spanning from the Middle Ages to contemporary times. Your studies will incorporate linguistics and communication classes to deepen your literary analysis skills. Journalism coursework complements your language arts training, providing a well-rounded perspective. In advanced studies, you'll implement your knowledge through teaching, guiding students through explorations of timeless literary classics.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants applying for admission to Youngstown State University must submit a high school transcript and American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores.
