The Persuasion Track is tailored for students pursuing careers requiring strong interpersonal engagement and influence. This program enhances your expertise in argumentation, persuasive strategies, public speaking, while expanding your competencies in intercultural and social media communication.
The curriculum encompasses core communication subjects along with specialized courses in intercultural communication, presentation skills, interviewing techniques, argumentation, persuasion strategies, social media campaigns, and emerging communication technologies. Advanced public speaking classes in presentation, argumentation, and persuasion build upon foundational skills from CMST 1545. Meanwhile, courses on social media and digital communication tools equip you with cutting-edge techniques for persuasive messaging through modern media platforms.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants applying for admission to Youngstown State University must submit a high school transcript and American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores.
