Yale Law School provides a Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) program tailored for a select group of non-lawyers aiming to gain foundational knowledge of legal concepts and examine how law intersects with their fields. This one-year, non-professional degree is ideal for individuals seeking thorough legal education without pursuing a full law degree. M.S.L. applicants are usually accomplished scholars holding doctoral degrees, often with specific academic or research goals, or experienced journalists looking to deepen their understanding of legal principles to enhance their reporting. (Note: Professionals who already hold a law degree cannot apply for this program.)
