The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) program trains students to provide comprehensive care for patients across the adult lifespan, from teenagers to elderly individuals. The curriculum emphasizes promoting health through preventive measures and treating illnesses in diverse healthcare environments. Partnering with Connecticut's COACH initiative, the program incorporates the 4M's framework - addressing mental health, proper medication use, physical mobility, and patient priorities - to teach students how to develop and sustain healthcare systems tailored for older adults. AGPCNP students learn to care for teenage, adult, and elderly populations (excluding pediatric patients). This program equips graduates to pursue certification as Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners through either the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
