Students who complete the MSN Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) program gain specialized training for high-level nursing roles across diverse acute and critical care environments. These advanced practitioners focus on assessing and treating complicated health issues—both temporary and chronic—affecting patients from late adolescence through older adulthood, including vulnerable elderly individuals.
Designed with working nurses in mind, the program follows a flexible part-time schedule delivered through distance learning. This approach blends live virtual classes with mandatory on-campus sessions, where learners engage in hands-on labs and simulations to develop crucial clinical competencies.
The 45-credit curriculum includes 35 credits of classroom instruction and 10 credits of supervised clinical practice with experienced acute care providers. Students typically finish the program in six or seven consecutive semesters, with the timeline varying based on their start date.
