The state of our environment significantly impacts human health, but factors like climate change, deteriorating air and water quality, and biodiversity decline make it increasingly difficult to forecast environmental effects on human health outcomes. Program participants gain the foundational knowledge required to address contemporary health and environmental issues while taking leadership roles locally, nationally, and globally. The MEM dual-degree curriculum mandates 36 credit hours, a summer internship, and either a thesis or capstone project. Furthermore, all dual-degree candidates must complete three weeks of practical skills training prior to starting at YSE. These intensive August workshops cover plant identification, ecosystem management, land surveying, and urban ecological assessment. For additional details, consult YSE's Degree Programs section.
