The vocal program specializing in early music caters to singers passionate about historical compositions, sacred choral works, lyrical pieces, modern vocal music, and small ensemble performances. Participants in this program benefit from individualized voice instruction and focused training in classical song and sacred music repertoire, while also engaging in weekly workshops covering performance techniques, language pronunciation, and artistic expression. Students gain valuable experience through masterclasses led by distinguished visiting musicians. While sharing courses in language articulation, physical expression, and vocal literature with opera students, early music vocalists additionally participate in the Yale Institute of Sacred Music's Wednesday afternoon Colloquium alongside peers from related ISM disciplines.
