The state of our environment significantly impacts human well-being, though climate change and various other environmental threats - from deteriorating air and water quality to diminishing biodiversity - make it increasingly difficult to forecast how these factors influence human health outcomes. Program participants gain the essential foundation to comprehend contemporary environmental health complexities and take leadership roles at local, national, and global scales. The combined MEM degree mandates 36 credit hours, along with a summer practicum and either a thesis or final project. Furthermore, all dual-degree candidates must complete three weeks of practical skills instruction prior to starting their YSE coursework. These intensive August workshops cover plant recognition, ecosystem stewardship, terrain assessment, and urban ecological studies. Additional details can be found in YSE's Degree Programs section.
