Soil and water systems are fundamental to all land and environmental stewardship. The interplay between soils and their plant life regulates atmospheric exchanges, nutrient cycles, and watershed characteristics. Our graduate researchers explore both theoretical and practical challenges in earth sciences, including carbon storage, landscape influences on soil properties, management impacts on water quality, effectiveness of conservation practices, soil fertility, and waste remediation through soil systems.
