This dual degree program is designed for students seeking to combine environmental studies with religious community engagement in their professional paths, as well as those interested in exploring the cultural and ethical aspects of environmental challenges. The program benefits from faculty jointly appointed with Yale Divinity School and the Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology. All environmental degree candidates must complete 36 credit hours, a summer internship, and either a thesis or capstone project. Additionally, joint-degree participants must complete three weeks of technical skills training prior to starting at FES. These intensive August workshops provide practical instruction in plant identification, ecosystem management, land surveying, and urban ecological assessment.
