Graduate students must complete sixteen courses in total. Nine of these fulfill Department of French requirements, while seven satisfy the Renaissance Studies Program. Among the nine French courses, students must take French 610 (Introduction to Old French) and two additional courses focusing on the medieval and early modern eras (11th-17th centuries). The remaining six French courses should provide comprehensive coverage of different periods and specialties within French and Francophone literature. For the seven Renaissance Studies courses, students must complete the Core Course twice, take two literature courses not focused on French, and select three courses from other departments such as History, Art History, Music, Religious Studies, or Philosophy.
