The Religion and Modernity program offers an interdisciplinary approach that blends theoretical and historical perspectives in examining its core themes. Throughout the academic year, graduate students and faculty involved in Religion and Modernity gather for regular colloquia, where they may share their ongoing research or collectively analyze significant texts, both contemporary and classical. Students interested in combining Religion and Modernity with another departmental specialization can design an integrated curriculum in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies in Religious Studies and the appropriate faculty advisors (typically the Associate DGS) from each discipline. Such academic partnerships often involve adjusting course requirements, combining examination reading lists, and including faculty from both areas on thesis and examination committees.
