Organizations and Management examines two key areas: the dynamics between individuals and groups within companies, and how businesses engage with each other as well as with customers, workers, communities, and other institutions. Researchers explore these topics using psychological frameworks—including analyses of group dynamics, authority, stereotypes, and feelings—alongside sociological approaches that investigate social classifications, personal identity, relationships between people and organizations, and social hierarchies. Compared to similar programs, Yale SOM stands out by equipping students with comprehensive knowledge of both psychological and sociological viewpoints on organizational challenges. The program also distinguishes itself through its rigorous emphasis on empirical research methodologies.
