The Investigative Medicine Program offers a cutting-edge Ph.D. training initiative in clinical research for medical professionals through Yale's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. This program aims to equip future clinical researchers with comprehensive knowledge, analytical abilities, innovative thinking, and practical experience—whether they pursue laboratory-based studies or patient-centered clinical investigations. Admission is highly selective, drawing candidates from various medical specialties who can specialize in patient-focused studies, disease-oriented research, or fundamental translational laboratory work. Each student receives personalized research guidance combining structured coursework with hands-on training under experienced faculty mentors. Thesis projects span diverse areas such as: assessing disease risk factors and treatments using contemporary quantitative approaches, examining molecular disease mechanisms through laboratory research, and studying disease foundations through biochemical, physiological, and genetic investigations in clinical settings.
Applicants must have completed your undergraduate degree (bachelor's or equivalent) or will have completed it prior to your intended matriculation date at Yale.
