The Yale School of Music's trombone program provides students with comprehensive training, allowing them to hone their abilities, study musical works spanning historical to contemporary styles, and showcase their talents in both small ensembles and full orchestras. Trombone players engage in weekly one-on-one instruction and group seminar sessions. Beyond solo performances, participants collaborate in chamber groups, a cornerstone of the Yale musical curriculum. The program includes specialized study of historical performance practices through the Yale Cornetto and Sackbut Ensemble, involvement in modern compositions via New Music New Haven, and regular performances with the prestigious Yale Philharmonia. These diverse performance platforms enable students to experience an extensive range of musical literature under the direction of renowned visiting conductors.
