Human factors psychology is a multidisciplinary domain that investigates and implements knowledge of human behavior, capabilities, constraints, and traits to improve the creation and assessment of products, systems, workplaces, tools, and environments—ensuring they are efficient, secure, and user-friendly. For an overview of the field, visit the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society website. Wright State University's Department of Psychology offers a Human Factors program accredited by the Human Factors Ergonomics Society. The program highlights the synergy between human factors and industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology, demonstrating how their collaboration yields outcomes beyond what each could accomplish independently. Human factors majors complement their studies with a minor in I/O psychology, fostering a comprehensive grasp of both disciplines. The curriculum equips students by teaching core principles of each specialty and encouraging collaboration in diverse research environments. This distinctive, well-rounded approach readies graduates for roles in corporate settings, academia, government, and consulting.
