The 5-year accelerated BS/MS Program in Biotechnology allows qualified students to complete both degrees by counting 3 shared courses (10 credits) toward both programs. Applications should be submitted during junior year fall semester. The initial three years mirror the standard biotechnology BS curriculum, with research commencing in spring of the senior year. Admission requires a 3.0 GPA minimum, two recommendation letters, and GRE scores.
This interdisciplinary Biotechnology Major combines essential biological and chemical science principles to train laboratory professionals for both research and production roles in biotech. The curriculum spans biology, chemistry, physics, math, and writing to cultivate analytical reasoning, troubleshooting abilities, and practical lab techniques - preparing graduates for advanced study and diverse career paths.
Students gain expertise in tissue culture, molecular techniques, protein isolation, chemical analysis, and compliance protocols. Hands-on internship opportunities provide valuable real-world experience.
