Students pursuing a double major in Early Childhood or Elementary Education will complete a three-component course sequence comprising: foundational classes spanning the department's three disciplines of art, music, and theater; interdisciplinary core courses; and specialized pedagogy classes along with electives in their chosen arts concentration.
The Visual and Performing Arts Major, among the nation's rare interdisciplinary arts programs, provides comprehensive training in visual arts, music, and theater while exploring connections between artistic disciplines. The curriculum covers art history and design principles, music theory and ear training, as well as dramatic analysis and performance techniques, revealing both shared artistic elements and real-world applications. Core coursework enhances analytical abilities and readies students for their culminating senior project. This program offers personalized guidance and practical opportunities in students' preferred artistic focus areas.
