The Sociology PhD program prepares students to become autonomous scholars capable of conducting research, teaching, or working in diverse professional environments. Our program provides thorough instruction in both foundational sociological concepts and specialized competencies essential for professional success. The coursework establishes a solid grounding in general sociology while allowing students to focus on specific areas aligned with their career aspirations, whether in academia, research, government, or public sector roles.
During the third and fourth terms, students engage in higher-level coursework while developing their Master's thesis. The concluding three semesters focus on specialized classes, independent research, and topic-specific seminars tailored to each student's academic and professional growth. Typically, students complete written exams in two interconnected specialization areas after finishing their coursework, followed by the submission of a dissertation proposal in the subsequent phase.
