The MSN in School Nursing is a 33-credit advanced degree designed to enhance school nurses' expertise, professional worth, and clinical competencies. This specialized track combines 24 credits of school nurse coursework with 9 credits of foundational graduate nursing classes. Upon finishing the 24-credit school nurse curriculum, participants qualify for the Educational Services Endorsement as certified school nurses. Completion of eight specific courses (NUR 5500, NUR 5510, NUR 5021, NUR 6170, NUR 5520, CSP 5601, SPC 5010, and PSY 6830) fulfills New Jersey's School Nurse Instructional Certification requirements.

Qualification Requirements

Each applicant must demonstrate that he or she can fulfill the requirements of the program, including the ability to read and write at a graduate level, the capability to do graduate level academic work, and an interest in nursing theory and practice. Toward this end the requirements for admission are:

A bachelor of science in nursing degree (BSN)
Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
A copy of a current New Jersey Registered Nursing License.
A course in Developmental Psychology/Lifespan Development
A course in Public Health/Community Nursing.
