Wichita State's Master of Arts (MA) in communication sciences and disorders (CSD) blends rigorous academic coursework with hands-on training at the WSU Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, as well as clinical sites across Kansas' medical community and nationwide. This program equips graduates to earn certification as speech-language pathologists for careers in schools, hospitals, and various professional environments.
Applied learning forms the core of Wichita State's educational approach. Each academic program includes mandatory practical experiences or research opportunities, ensuring students develop job-ready competencies before completing their degrees.
Focusing on speech-language pathology, the MA program requires 61 credit hours (available with thesis or non-thesis options) spanning five to six semesters. Students participate in clinical practicum courses every semester and must complete yearly HIPAA certification training.
