Wichita State University's Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in psychology provides three specialized tracks: clinical, community, and human factors psychology. The program features access to 14 cutting-edge laboratories, research groups, and clinical facilities, along with collaborative faculty-student research opportunities that prepare graduates for professional advancement. Wichita State emphasizes hands-on learning, with every degree program incorporating guaranteed practical or research components to develop job-ready competencies prior to graduation. The PhD curriculum requires 90-101 credit hours and must be completed within nine years. Beyond core coursework, each specialization has distinct requirements. Students undertake a second-year research project, post-second-year research activities, comprehensive examinations, and a doctoral dissertation.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants are not required to have an undergraduate degree in psychology, but must have completed courses in general psychology, psychological statistics and experimental psychology. Applicants to the clinical psychology program also are required to have completed a course in history and systems of psychology with a B- or better.
Applicants will be required to fill out the online Graduate School Application1, where they will be required to upload/provide the following:
Contact information for three people to serve as references (people acquainted with the applicant's academic background and potential),
Personal essay,
Supplemental information (honors, scholarships, employment history, etc.),
Professional article sample (articles, presentations, projects, etc.), and
Scores (verbal and quantitative) on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
TOEFL 79 on the internet-based test, or 550 on the paper-based test.
