This program provides practical translation and interpretation experience, setting you on the path to becoming a certified ASL interpreter in your community. Wichita State prioritizes experiential education - every degree program includes mandatory applied learning or research components, ensuring you graduate with job-ready skills. As an ASL major, you'll study interpreting techniques, Deaf culture, and nonverbal communication. Following core coursework, students specialize in one of three concentrations: Language Structure, Cultural Linguistics, or Interpretation Techniques.

Students who have completed AP, IB, or Cambridge A or AS level curriculum are eligible to receive transfer credit.
Students must submit final high school transcripts.
You must submit your official final high school transcript as soon as it is available. If you do not submit your final official transcript to us by the end of your first semester at Wichita State University,
you will not be allowed to enroll for subsequent terms.
