This program meets the academic major requirement for teacher certification with an elementary education endorsement and must be paired with the professional preparation program in elementary education. Refer to the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Multilingual Education section of this catalog for details on program admission, completion, and certification requirements. Designed for elementary education candidates seeking a strong foundation in environmental topics, this major fulfills the academic major requirement. While environmental studies isn't an endorsable subject on its own, certain courses may apply toward other endorsement areas. Students are encouraged to consult a faculty advisor for guidance on course applicability.
To complete the Environmental Studies Elementary Education major within four years, students should fulfill all General University Requirements (GUR) during their first two years. The preparatory courses can simultaneously satisfy both College of the Environment and GUR requirements.
