The department's graduate program concentrates on three key disciplines: construction engineering and management, structural engineering, and transportation engineering. Students can pursue their degree through flexible program options, choosing between full-time or part-time study with either a design or research focus.
The Master of Science in Civil Engineering program aims to: Sustain an excellent graduate curriculum that prepares students for professional advancement or doctoral studies. Develop innovative engineering solutions to benefit local, national, and worldwide communities. Students demonstrate their mastery by completing either a thesis or design project that applies proper engineering methodologies to solve civil engineering challenges. These graduate research projects tackle significant engineering issues relevant to regional, national, or global concerns.
Students entering the proposed master’s degree program are expected to have a background equivalent to that of a student graduating from the department's undergraduate civil and construction engineering degree programs, or to obtain such background through specified prerequisite coursework.
