The Department of Political Science at Western Michigan University provides three advanced degree options: a Master of Arts, Master of International Development Administration (M.I.D.A.), and a Doctor of Philosophy. The Master of Arts program spans two years (30 credit hours) and allows students to choose between a thesis or field examination track. Alumni typically secure roles in various government levels, community colleges, and corporate sectors, or advance to doctoral programs like Ph.D. or J.D. degrees.
Student must have completed at least 24 hours of work in the social sciences or other relevant fields and have achieved a 3.0 grade point average.
