The Spanish Department at Western Michigan University provides an Accelerated Graduate Degree Program (AGDP) that enables undergraduate seniors to earn credits toward a master's degree while completing their bachelor's. Qualified students in the Spanish AGDP can enroll in up to 12 graduate-level credits (5000- and 6000-level courses), which count toward both degrees.
A bachelor's in Spanish requires 122 credit hours, while the MA in Spanish needs 30. By maximizing the AGDP's 12 graduate credits, students complete their combined degrees with just 140 total credits, significantly fewer than the standard 152 credits required when pursuing the degrees separately.
An undergraduate minimum GPA of 3.5 in Spanish (based on 15 credit hours earned at WMU and on at least 20 credit hours in a declared major in Spanish).
