The Department of Physical Therapy provides a professional entry-level program culminating in a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Applicants to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program must hold a bachelor's degree and complete all prerequisite courses before admission. This intensive 30-month program consists of 110 credit hours delivered through a full-time professional curriculum.
As a WMU DPT candidate, you'll undertake three full-time clinical rotations totaling 32 weeks of hands-on experience. Before starting formal clinical rotations, you'll complete approximately 50 faculty-supervised hours across various clinical settings during your first academic year.
The initial full-time clinical placement spans 10 weeks and begins in summer session of your second year. A second 10-week rotation follows toward the end of your second year. The culminating 12-week clinical experience occurs during the fall semester of your third year, immediately preceding graduation.
An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the most recent 60 hours of academic coursework.
Scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
