Statisticians create experimental designs, evaluate data, and draw meaningful conclusions. According to the National Science Foundation, the need for statisticians will outpace the number of qualified graduates for at least a decade.
Western Michigan University's statistics curriculum combines mathematical and statistical studies with a strong focus on computational applications. Alumni utilize their expertise in statistical analysis across diverse fields such as biology, economics, engineering, healthcare, psychology, marketing, education, and athletics. Critical decisions in economics, society, politics, and defense often rely on statistical methods, including experimental designs required for federal approval of new pharmaceuticals.
A first-year applicant is a student who is applying for admission and who has not attempted or earned any college credit after graduating from high school/secondary school (or earned equivalent).
