Pursuing an art degree at Western Michigan University opens up diverse creative pathways. Students can specialize in various disciplines such as Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Foundation Art, Graphic Design, Metalsmithing, Jewelry Making, Painting, Photography and Intermedia, Printmaking, Pre-Art Therapy, Product Design, and Sculpture. The Frostic School of Art enriches this experience by offering complimentary exhibitions, unique events, and visiting artist programs.
The Richmond Center for Visual Arts features three expansive gallery spaces: the Monroe-Brown Gallery hosts rotating exhibitions, the Netzorg-Kerr Permanent Collection Gallery displays curated selections from the school's archives, the Atrium Gallery focuses on audio-visual installations, while the DeVries Student Art Gallery showcases work by current students and alumni. A first-year applicant is a student who is applying for admission and who has not attempted or earned any college credit after graduating from high school/secondary school (or earned equivalent).
