The Philosophy Department fosters critical thinking and articulate communication about profound issues to enrich lives with greater awareness, adaptability, innovation, and purpose. Philosophy majors can focus on: artistic expression and creativity, ethical systems and social equity, or craft a personalized concentration. Our department additionally provides a philosophy minor option (available entirely through online coursework). Those pursuing philosophy as a secondary major or minor can fulfill substantial requirements via the Global Citizenship Program (GCP) curriculum. Webster University's philosophy degrees emphasize both comprehending our world and empowering students to improve it. The program builds expertise in philosophical frameworks while honing advanced capabilities in analytical reasoning, persuasive speaking and writing, cooperative solution-finding, moral judgment, and identifying factors that enhance or obstruct meaningful, fair living. Qualification Requirements
A completed online application for undergraduate admission. Students may submit the University's institutional application or The Common Application. Equal consideration is given to both during the admission review.
An official high school transcript and external exams (if applicable in applicant's home country). All transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
Proof of English language proficiency. See English Language Proficiency section below for approved methods.
A 300- to 500-word essay on a topic of the student's choice, such as a special interest, significant experience or notable achievement.
Strong consideration will be given to applicants who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (equivalent) or better (on a 4.0 scale) on all previous academic work.
Successful completion of the ELS Language Center's for Academic Purposes or ELS Language Center Level 112 (must have valid ELS 112 Certificate of Completion).
Successful completion of the University of Central Florida's Center for Multilingual Multicultural Studies (CMMS) Intensive English Program (must have valid completion certificate).
