The Master of Science (MS) program in Molecular Genetics and Genomics (MGG) provides a comprehensive curriculum focused on modern genetics, genomics, and human biology through both theoretical and laboratory-based learning. The MGG MS program offers two tracks: Plan A (which mandates a research thesis) and Plan B (requiring an essay instead). Plan B was introduced to accommodate students who may not need extensive lab experience, such as those pursuing careers in education or seeking professional advancement. In select instances, completing either Plan A or Plan B may help qualified students transition into our PhD program.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants should provide a statement describing their interest in genetics and genomics, research experience if any, and future and career plans. Applicants must also provide official academic transcripts, and three letters of recommendation sent directly to us. The Graduate Record Examination is optional (not required), but if taken, the scores should be sent directly to us. International applicants must be proficient in English and demonstrate above average performance on the TOEFL English proficiency examination. All admission materials should be sent directly to the CMMG Program Coordinator Ms. Suzanne Shaw ([email protected]), Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. Applicants meeting admissions criteria will be selected for interview.
To establish English proficiency, you are required to submit an official qualifying score meeting minimum Graduate School requirements. The Graduate School's English Language Proficiency requirements are the absolute minimum, programs can set higher minimum standards. You are expected to meet the requirements set by your program of interest.
