The BMS Program offers a curriculum tailored for those looking to strengthen or shift their educational foundation to meet personal, professional, or career development objectives. This program significantly boosts academic readiness for students aiming to enter medical, dental, veterinary, or pharmaceutical degree programs. Additionally, it supports career growth for professionals working in biomedical research and science education. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in fields such as biological, chemical, biomedical (excluding medical degrees), pharmaceutical sciences, or related legal studies.
This program focuses on human biology through an interdisciplinary approach, drawing courses from multiple Basic Science Departments within Wayne State University's School of Medicine. Students complete core medical science courses across four distinct disciplines, supplemented by advanced biomedical electives. To graduate, participants must finish a literature review project and write an essay analyzing a contemporary issue in biomedical science.
