Wayne State's Master of Arts in Sociology equips students for doctoral studies or professional paths with a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum that teaches them to (1) apply diverse sociological theories and (2) conduct research using multiple methodologies. The program emphasizes specialized training in race/ethnicity/gender studies, health sociology, and global/transnational/comparative sociology. Students can choose between two options: Plan A (thesis-based) or Plan B (essay-based), with Plan B serving as a final master's degree. The Plan B track offers two concentrations: (1) general sociology or (2) applied sociological research methods.

Qualification Requirements
To be considered for graduate admission, applicants must have completed an appropriate university-level program comparable in subject matter and credits to a Wayne State bachelor's degree program. While a degree in another country may have a similar name to a U.S. degree, that doesn't mean it requires similar lengths and content of study or that it should be accepted as equivalent.
