First-year students engage in school-wide interdisciplinary courses covering cellular and molecular biology, along with a selection of systems biology courses. This ensures all new students, irrespective of their prior experience, establish a shared foundation in biomedical knowledge before advancing to specialized studies.
All incoming graduate students complete three laboratory rotations with Program faculty during their initial year. These rotations offer guided, practical research experience and essential exposure to technical and conceptual advancements in the field. They also allow students to collaborate closely with multiple faculty members before selecting a dissertation advisor.
Through departmental and interdepartmental seminars, students gain insights into cutting-edge developments in pharmacology and biomedical sciences, interact with guest researchers, and build professional networks.
