The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy maintains established, high-quality graduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences and translational research. Our graduate studies aim to cultivate both broad intellectual understanding and specialized expertise for careers in academia, research, or advanced clinical practice. The program focuses on equipping students with the knowledge, methodologies, and competencies required for effective teaching, innovative research, analytical problem-solving, academic leadership, creative work, and professional achievement. We are dedicated to addressing inequalities, promoting awareness, and creating an inclusive environment where all participants have equitable access to opportunities within our graduate program.
Pharmaceutical Science integrates multiple disciplines, encompassing chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacotherapy, and health outcomes research. Applicants to our pharmaceutical sciences graduate program choose a specialized track aligned with their academic interests. The College provides a Ph.D. program with concentrations in these pharmaceutical science domains, along with an M.S. program focused specifically on pharmacotherapy and health outcomes research.
Operating at the intersection of Chemistry and Biology, we develop chemical and biochemical approaches to investigate cellular signaling, metabolic pathways, enzyme evolution, DNA repair mechanisms, and other drug discovery targets. Students apply fundamental principles of enzymology and bioorganic chemistry to create innovative methodologies for understanding health and disease through chemical processes.
