Over the past two decades, there's been remarkable advancement in miniaturized sensors and devices created through micro and nanofabrication methods originating from semiconductor manufacturing. Intelligent, compact, and energy-efficient sensors and actuators are now pervasive across consumer electronics, medical equipment, portable chemical analysis tools, automotive systems, optical networks, and beyond. This specialization aims to cultivate students' skills and understanding of the specialized methods and concepts involved in designing, producing, and evaluating such microdevices. Learners will explore the diverse real-world uses of these technologies, spanning physical, chemical, environmental, and biomedical sensing applications.
