Wayne State's doctoral program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) equips students for academic, research, or advanced clinical careers in the field.

The program welcomes driven individuals with research focus in key areas including: childhood language and literacy development, adult cognitive-linguistic disorders, speech processing and production, infant speech acquisition, fluency disorders, therapeutic interventions, neuroimaging techniques, and cross-linguistic studies. Situated in Detroit, our department benefits from proximity to numerous clinical and research institutions, including major healthcare systems like DMC and Henry Ford Health. Doctoral candidates start each fall and are required to take an orientation seminar. Applicants must hold a master's degree and submit supporting materials including a personal statement, recommendation letters, and GRE results for consideration.
