Washington State's Sociology Program combines research and teaching to educate students. Through faculty-guided seminars and research initiatives, students can engage in both team-based and individual research projects. Beyond providing annual teaching workshops for students leading their own classes, the program includes a second-year teaching seminar. Its objective, central to the graduate curriculum, is to develop skilled sociologists capable of meaningful contributions across academic, research, government, and community sectors.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of purpose, a writing sample and obtain three letters of recommendation.
Each year, six to ten new students are admitted to the Department of Sociology graduate program. Preference is given to applicants who intend to complete the PhD degree.
In order to apply for admission to the graduate program in sociology, you must apply for admission to the Graduate School at Washington State University. The department also requires GRE scores, three letters of recommendation, a writing sample, and a brief statement of your professional interests, all of which are to be submitted directly to the Graduate School. The minimum acceptable Toefl paper based score 550
Applicants with at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) grade point Avg, or the equivalent in the last 60 graded semester (90 quarter) hours, from an accredited college or university, or at least a B grade point Avg in any graduate work from a recognized graduate school are eligible for admission to regular student status. Applicants with at least 12 semester hours of approved coursework from accredited graduate schools with at least a B grade point Avg are eligible for admission to regular student status.
