This interdisciplinary program is overseen by the College of Engineering and Architecture's Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs. Students usually receive guidance and funding from one of the College's various departments. The program's flexible, cross-disciplinary approach allows for customized study plans that address each student's unique academic goals. Specialization options encompass fields like biological systems engineering, atmospheric science, materials engineering, and bioengineering, among others. Participants frequently collaborate with interdisciplinary research centers such as the Bioengineering Research Center (BRC), Center for Environmental Education and Outreach (CEREO), Center for Materials Research (CMR), Laboratory for Atmospheric Research (LAR), and Composite Materials and Engineering Center (CMEC).
