Students can opt for a B.A. in Foreign Languages with a French specialization through either the Language (non-teaching) Track or the Teaching Track. The Language Track offers thorough language instruction alongside studies in French and Francophone literature, cinema, and cultural studies. Designed for aspiring French educators in public schools, the Teaching Track prepares students for classroom instruction. Additionally, learners may pursue a complementary professional second major in French. This degree aims to equip students with the linguistic abilities and cultural knowledge needed to engage effectively with French-speaking professionals.
WSU's French curriculum delivers not just practical French language proficiency but also fosters intellectual exploration, analytical abilities, and an understanding of global, particularly Francophone, cultural contexts. Our offerings span introductory to advanced language classes, alongside specialized courses in French and Francophone literary works, films, and cultural studies, all instructed by fluent or highly proficient French speakers.
